Questions regarding the placement of ashes during COVID restrictions

  • Due to lockdown and Council closure, our Council has postponed performing placement of ashes bookings in our cemeteries. Most of those that have been postponed are those with family members/attendees that are restricted by Public Health Orders and travel restrictions.

My questions are;

should or can ashes placements be carried out for local community members?

Are other Councils still conducting placements?

Is the placement of ashes considered an essential service? We are unsure of which way to go as we do not want to discrimate those families that are unable to have their placements carried out.

Many thanks

Site Admin It seems to be a grey area - it's not a funeral service, IMO, more a public gathering or memorial service. - Site Admin - 4 weeks ago
