Does the cremation take place immediately after the service?

Once the service is completed, or when the deceased has been accepted by the crematorium operator, how long will it be before the actual cremation occurs?

This will depend upon the specific arrangements that a family has made with the funeral director and the crematorium.

When making the funeral arrangements the family should make their wishes clearly known to the funeral director.  If it is a specific requirement that cremation occurs immediately after the service or on the same day as the service, that should be clearly explained to the funeral director.  It may impact the timing of the service, where the cremation occurs and the cremation fee.

The Health Regulations require that a cremation must occur within 48 hours of delivery to the crematorium (not the actual funeral service).
